With over 25 years experience, Dean Cherny is regarded as one of Australia’s most accomplished DJs and a stalwart of the music and fashion industries.
Dean has been involved in more than 30 Australian Fashion Weeks and Festivals over the past 13 years and has been musical director for over 150 fashion shows during this time. Dean has worked with brands and designers including Ellery, Toni Maticevski, Kirrily Johnston, Camilla Franks, Ginger & Smart, Seafolly, Bec & Bridge, Anna & Boy, Nicola Finetti, Jayson Brunsdon, White Suede, and more, plus international labels Chanel, Zac Posen, Hugo Boss and Armani Exchange.
In addition to curating music for fashion shows, Dean has recently begun working with various producers to create original compositions for on-line videos for various clients including Mimco & Jennifer Hawkins’ JLH label.
Dean remains one of the most in-demand DJs for exclusive private parties and VIP events. Recent highlights include the Chanel season launch event, the Myer Marquee at the Melbourne Cup Carnival, the Prix de Marie Claire Awards, the TAG Heuer Melbourne Grand Prix Party, the Circa Spring Racing Carnival After Parties, the Hermes launch at Le Louvre, the opening of Melbourne’s first Zara store and the Who Sexiest People Party.
Dean has played along side industry giants Frankie Knuckles, DJ Sneak, Boy George, Deep Dish and Basement Jaxx, and in 2010 was handpicked by George Michael and his management for the coveted support spot on his national tour. He also regularly plays in Bali at the W Hotel & KuDeTa.
As the creator and managing director of Marketing Melodies, Dean provides in-store music to more than 1500 retail stores across Australia and New Zealand. His constant search for new and varied music for his retail clients has afforded Dean one of the largest and most eclectic music collections, spanning across all genres from the past 50 years.
Late last year Dean launched storePlay, the world’s first App based in-store music service that allows retailers, restaurants and other businesses to remotely and legally download curated music playlists directly to their iPod touch or iPad.
