If you haven’t already discovered the iconic Mark Pellegrini than we’ll assume you aren’t from Melbourne. Mark was born and raised in Melbourne and began DJ’ing at a very young age. Growing up in a wonderful era of music (primarily disco, funk & house in the 80’s and 90’s) he, like many of us, enjoyed and was inspired by the rich sounds of Prince, Stevie Wonder & Quincy Jones. But hearing the sounds of Patrick Cowley, Giorgio Moroder and Shep Pettibone led Mark to discover a sound best described as electronic disco funk with rich basslines streaming within.
Having grown up on those dirty funk laden sounds with fat synths, rich basslines incorporated with electronic fusion movements, Mark remains as energised and passionate about these sounds today just as much as he was back when he first started DJing.
Mark’s passion for music resulted in the creation of his own platform where he had the freedom to play his favourite music. But who knew that in doing so, Mark would become a pioneer of the biggest genre based parties in Melbourne which in turn, ended up featuring none other than himself as the headline attraction. But there’s more to Mark than meets the eye. He’s dynamic and multi-dimensional; he juggles being a businessman, entrepreneur, promoter and DJ/producer and has started his own label: ‘Rocksteady Recordings.’ He has formed a partnership with ‘Vicious’ and he can also lay claim to fame, for his remix/production of the ‘Tribal Kings’ ARIA Club Chart Top 10 hit: ‘Canto Della Liberta’.
Mark has played alongside some of the more reputable local and more importantly international DJ’s such as; Roger Sanchez, Sander Kleinenberg, Syke’N’Sugarstarr, Jay-J, Dimitri from Paris, Joey Negro, Tony Humphries, to name but a few. Ever evolving, Mark Pellegrini is again looking toward new horizons, in particular, the possibility of experimenting with the remix genre. He is also moving toward independently producing records and building the platform by which to release them. As you can see, Mark is working on some big projects and has a rather strong vision so it would be an understatement to say that the future looks very exciting.
Stay tuned for the next Mark Pellegrini (Tribal Kings) releases & performances around Australia.
